Dr. Juan Zuniga-Hertz, PhD

Dr. Hertz is the Cellular Assay Advisor for Verséa Discovery, the creators of mescreen™. Juan got his B.Sc. in biochemistry from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and his Ph.D. in human physiology and biophysics from the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. After obtaining his post-doctoral training at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, NY, he joined Prof. Patel's laboratory at the University of California, San Diego, to work as a Research Scientist. His main areas of interest are cell physiology, metabolism, pharmacology, and membrane biophysics. He has published in prestigious journals, including Nature, Cell Metabolism, FASEB, Lab on a Chip, ELife, and Frontiers in Physiology. Over the years, he has contributed to research projects funded by NIH, the VA administration, NASA, the Department of Defense, and private initiatives.
